What we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it. Last updated September 2026.
When you write to us, apply for support, or sign up for updates, we receive what you type into the form: usually your name, your email address, and your message. When you give, we receive your email address so we can send your receipt, along with the amount, the date, and which programme you chose. That is all.
We do not process card payments ourselves. Card numbers, expiry dates and security codes are entered on Stripe's or PayPal's own checkout pages, and those details never reach AILE Foundation or this website. Both processors are certified at PCI DSS Level 1, the highest tier. We could not see your card number even if we wanted to.
We use your information to answer you, to send your tax receipt, to keep sponsors updated about the child they support, and to send occasional news if you asked for it. We do not use it to build profiles or to target you elsewhere.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share our donor list with anyone, for any price, ever. We do not pass your details to other charities, to commercial partners, or to list brokers. The only parties who handle your data are the services that make the site work: Stripe and PayPal for payments, Netlify for form delivery and hosting, and Google for website analytics.
This site uses a Google tag to understand how people find us and whether our advertising is reaching the right people. It records visits, not identities. You can block it with any standard browser privacy setting or ad blocker, and nothing on this site will stop working.
Donation records are kept for as long as United States tax and charity law requires, because both you and we may need them. Enquiries and applications are kept while they are active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Write to contactus@ailefoundation.org at any time and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. You do not need to give a reason and it will not affect anything else. We answer within two business days.
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Photographs and names of the children in our programmes are published only with the consent of their parent or guardian, and we withhold identifying details wherever publishing them could put a child at risk.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in our newsletter.
